The Regulations for Selection to the AOA 21 Training Program for the 2026 intake have been published.
As most members are aware, the Selection process is reviewed on an annual basis. The FTC strives for a balanced approach, with consideration for the needs of the community, members, training program, and regulatory standards in developing a fair and comprehensive Selection process. To maintain consistency, in 2025 the FTC will continue using interviews and verbal referee reports introduced in 2023.
The significant change for 2026 will be the introduction of an orthopaedic multiple choice question (OMCQ) test, and a departmental referee report. These tools will replace the previous Situational Judgement Test (SJT) and will be used to manage capacities for regional interviews.
Further information on the format and delivery of the OMCQ will be available on the website shortly.
