AOA has provided a formal response disagreeing with a proposed change of title for podiatrists who perform surgical procedures to 'surgical podiatrist'.
The term 'surgical’ creates the impression and confusion in the community that the podiatric proceduralists are competent in undertaking surgical procedures requiring accreditation under Australian Medical Council (AMC) standards. This is not the case and untrue and should not be supported.
