2023 AOA Annual Scientific Meeting

Rural and Remote ASM Bursary

The AOA Rural and Remote ASM Bursary Program – supporting members outside the ‘big smoke’.

AOA, the AOA president, and Rural Surgeons Committee are pleased to provide a Rural and Remote ASM Bursary. The bursary is offered as a way of engaging with new and current rural and remote members, recognising the accessibility issues faced by these members. The 83rd AOA ASM, with the theme 'Rural Surgery – Build it and they will come', will take place at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from 12–16 November 2023.

The Rural and Remote Bursary includes:

  • full cost of ASM registration (including social functions)
  • return flights to Melbourne (excluding VIC)
  • up to four nights’ accommodation at a premium hotel in Melbourne’s CBD.

One bursary will be available for each participating state/territory – VIC, ACT, QLD and WA allocated to an associate member or fellow and fellow – NSW only. A SA/NT bursary is being negotiated. A TAS bursary will not be available in 2023.

To find out more about eligibility criteria and how to apply, visit AOA Rural and Remote ASM Bursary page.

If you have any questions related to the AOA Rural and Remote ASM Bursary or for members interested in financially supporting future rural and remote bursaries, please contact Chief Member Experience Officer Michelle White at michelle.white@aoa.org.au.
