2025 AOA Annual Scientific Meeting

AOA President - Scott Fletcher

One of my key goals for 2025 is to strengthen our sense of community within the AOA. What better way to do so than by gathering at our Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) in Hobart later this year.

As a proud Tasmanian, I am thrilled to invite you to the AOA 85th ASM, taking place from 12–16 October 2025 at the Hotel Grand Chancellor, Hobart. This event promises not only world-class scientific discussions but also an opportunity to experience the unique beauty and culture of my home state.

Tasmania offers something truly special—from its world-renowned food and wine to breathtaking landscapes and rugged wilderness. Whether it’s seeing your first Tasmanian Devil or exploring the island’s rich history and vibrant arts scene, there’s no shortage of reasons to extend your visit.

The theme for this year’s ASM is Connection—It is about connection with self, with one another and with others outside the Orthopaedic community. In particular, we recognize the importance of personal well-being, and I encourage you to consider arriving early or staying on after the meeting to fully embrace everything Tasmania has to offer.

Our local convenor, Matt Wilkinson, has collaborated with the AOA Events team to curate an outstanding social and sports program, ensuring a truly memorable experience both within and beyond the ASM. Meanwhile, Ken Cutbush is developing an exceptional scientific program, promising thought-provoking discussions and innovative insights.

This ASM will be an extraordinary event, particularly for those who have never visited Tasmania before. I urge you to mark your calendars and start planning your trip—you won’t want to miss this opportunity to connect, learn, and explore in such a remarkable setting.

I look forward to welcoming you to Hobart in 2025!
