It is with pleasure that I welcome you to register your abstract and attendance at the 2024 AOA WA Branch Scientific Papers Day, which will be followed by a return to a traditional evening cocktail party where Tash and I look forward to welcoming you to our home.

Abstract submission and registration * is now open via the meeting website and will close 5pm, Friday 19 January 2024 (AWST).

Our February event has continued to grow in stature, providing an outstanding representation of the high-quality research being undertaken in Western Australia. The leading paper will again be awarded the prestigious Allan Skirving Award.

I am confident that the 2024 edition will once again include thought-provoking presentations, stimulating discussion, and of course the opportunity to catch up with colleagues. It will also provide an excellent springboard into a scientific year highlighted by a return to our Bunker Bay ASM in August.

I encourage you all to attend and show your support for our local research and orthopaedic community. None of us do this alone, and the Branch Scientific Papers Day is a great forum to acknowledge our junior colleagues who are at various stages of their orthopaedic journey.

After the excellent support for the Foundation for Indigenous Sustainable Health in 2023, as part of our community engagement and social responsibility initiatives the AOA Scientific Program in WA will this year be working with a new charity.  In 2024 we will be supporting St Pat’s Community Support Centre www.stpats.com.au an organisation based in Fremantle which provides community housing and specialist support services for people facing homelessness. I thank you in advance for your generosity and contribution to this worthy cause.
