As the local convenors of the 84th AOA Scientific Meeting to be held in Brisbane in October 2024, it is with great pleasure we extend to all delegates and your families a warm and heartfelt welcome to our city, the host for the 2032 Olympics and Paralympics.
Nestled along the centre of Australia's east coast, Brisbane eagerly awaits to enchant you with its sub-tropical climate, meandering river life, picturesque surrounds, incredible Art Galleries (Gallery Of Modern Art and Queensland Art Gallery), thriving theatre scene (Queensland Performing Arts Centre) and burgeoning culinary culture where you can sit back, relax and be entertained by the hospitable locals.
Brisbane is surrounded by abundant natural scenery and vibrant attractions all within an hour or two of the city centre. Whether you are after the pristine golden sands of Surfers Paradise to the south, The Sunshine Coast including the world-renowned Noosa to the north or the spectacular scenery of their respective Hinterlands, there really is something for everyone. We encourage you to bring the family as there is plenty on offer at Southbank, however if the family are after a few extra thrills and spills, the various theme parks such as Movie World, Dream World and Sea World located just an hour south by train or car will keep them entertained all day.
As you gather with esteemed colleagues from across the globe to delve into the latest research in orthopaedic science and practice, under the theme "Making Data the Solution" as selected by our AOA President Dr. Michael Johnson, we encourage you to seize the opportunity to explore the wonders of Brisbane and its surrounding areas before and after the 2024 ASM.
We look forward to meeting as many of you as possible over this exciting week and eagerly anticipate hosting you in Brisbane.
